Family Sunday – December 4, 2011

Message: Transformation is often a long term process.

“Life is a marathon, not a race. Show us the pace to finish the race.” – John Piper

As a society, we are constantly looking for a quick fix or miracle. And while God does perform miracles, the majority of the time He transforms us over the long haul. This requires us to stay diligent and to not get discouraged. Whether its physical healing, restoration of a relationship, financial recovery, or finding our way back to God – it can take time. But no matter the time frame, if we follow God, that transformation will occur.

As a bit of an analogy, this transformation can be related to our facilities here at Hope. Quick backstory, the facilities at Hope need a bit of love. For the past year we have been working hard to improve our facilities and have made some amazing improvements. Our game room was completed over the summer, the old pastors office has been converted into a meeting room, and the bathrooms are almost completely remodeled. And our beloved Old School is in the midst of its restoration. We are working to make the facilities at Hope better for the long haul. A place that will benefit and support our community, our mission, and our family here at Hope. It would be lovely to have every nook and cranny completed right this moment, but the reality is that it just requires time.

The Holy Spirit is at work in all of us. Sometimes it can be instant. And sometimes it can be long term. But stay vigilant.

God bless.

Mission Opportunity – Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

A shoe box. It’s a simple gift that makes the world of difference for an orphaned child living in extreme poverty. Each year thousands of kids spend the holidays alone and seemingly forgotten by the world.

Operation Christmas Child provides you with an opportunity to help bring joy and happiness to kids all over the world. Simply package a shoebox full of gifts, drop it off, and then track its progress across the world to the town where the child will receive it. How cool is that!

If you would like to get involved, you can get started by Packing a Shoebox.
